Baseball Apparently Skyler Mornhinweg is not a one-trick pony.

Mornhinweg’s two-run single in the top of the seventh inning gave the Hawks an 8-7 lead and a nonleague win over host West Chester East, in the season-opener for both teams.
Ryan Winton pitched four innings in relief to earn the victory of the Prep.
Softball Mary Cate Scott got the shutout for Lansdale Catholic in a 1-0 win opening-day win over visiting St. Hubert, but to say Scott outpitched counterpart Melissa Robinson is a misnomer.
Robinson lost on a seven-inning no-hitter, despite striking out 16 and walking just one. The only run of the game was scored in the first inning when Brittany Bray reached first on a passed ball, stole cheap flight Newcastle to Darwin second, then scored after after two more passed balls.

5 Things We Learned In The NBA

March 20, 2010 in Uncategorized by kimicky

Source: HoopsWorld (Original Article)

It’s Sunday which means it’s time to take a look at what the wonderful world of the NBA taught us this week.
Do The Hornets Really Have To Trade Either Chris Paul Or Darren Collison?
New Orleans Hornets rookie point guard Darren Collison has been on a nice little role since Chris Paul went down with a knee injury last month.  It’s not just the numbers he’s been putting up, but it’s also the unique poise he’s demonstrated – a prerequisite to being a good floor leader in the NBA – that has gotten the attention of the masses.
"I think the consistency that he’s shown throughout the past month and a half playing against high-level point guards and high-level teams is something that has really been a big plus for our team," said Hornets head coach Jeff Bower.  "His ability to manage the game and direct our offense and defense is something a lot of first year players have a much more difficult time with.  Those are all things that have been really good for us and big steps forward for him."
"The scary thing is that he’s still learning," added assistant coach Robert Pack, who is responsible for working out the Hornets’ point guards prior to every game.  "Once he gets it… look out."
Opponents are also noticing Collison’s abilities.
"I like him," asserted Denver Nuggets starting point guard Chauncey Billups.  "He’s very solid.  He’s got a pretty good understanding of the game at a young age as far as pick-and-rolls.  He also takes command out there, which is surprising for a rookie.  He shoots a lot better than people know — mid-range and from three.  He’s nice, man.  I like his game."
Of course, with Collison’s success has come rumors that either he or even Paul could be moved this summer.  The thinking of the folks suggesting this is that the team could take one of two players who play the same position and help cheap flights Sunshine Coast to Melbourne (All Airports) dump salary and/or add talent at other …continue reading

Bobcats center Theo Ratliff is 37 years old, but it doesn’t sound like he intends to retire after this season.

Smith downplays Oregon rumors

March 8, 2010 in Uncategorized by kimicky

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune (Original Article)

It didn’t take long for the rumors to start swirling around Gophers men’s basketball coach Tubby Smith.
Fox Sports’ Jeff Goodman sent out this tweet Saturday night amid separate reports that Ernie Kent, who remains at Oregon, will not return to the Ducks next season: "The names I have been told as targets are Tubby Smith and Mark Turgeon [Texas A&M] for the Oregon job."
Smith, who addressed the rumor Monday, said he hasn’t been contacted by the Ducks and that he’s happy with the Gophers.
"I don’t address it because it’s all rumor mills," he said. "If I addressed every rumor I would never be able to do what I do. … Our team has had its share of distractions. … There’s always talk about players leaving or coaches leaving. That’s part of the business. But I’m very happy here, even though this year was an up and down year, we feel like we’ve got the right pieces in place. And we think we can be a pretty good team in the future."
A source familiar with the situation said Monday that Smith has "no cheap domestic flights from Launceston to Mackay interest at all" in Oregon’s opening.

Afghanistan and Pakistan go to war – against polio!

February 14, 2010 in Uncategorized by kimicky

Source: ReliefWeb (press release) (Original Article)

15 February 2010 – It is not just the conventional military war the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan are fighting in the rugged mountains shared by the South Asian neighbours.
The two countries – supported by the United Nations agencies and the Rotary International – have waged an all-out war in the mountains stretching across the tribal areas which often make international headlines for violence and military offensives, for the welfare of the people living on the both sides of the border.
However, the new war is of a humanitarian nature – against the deadly polio virus.
A day after a three-day polio eradication campaign was launched in 14 provinces in southern, south-eastern, western and eastern Afghanistan, a similar synchronised campaign was launched today in the tribal areas of Pakistan to fight the virus in a coordinated manner.
Dr Khushhal Khan Zaman, head of the eastern regional office of the UN’s World Health Organization (WHO), said the three-day campaign in Pakistan is concentrated, but not limited, in the "high-risk" border districts.
Cases of polio virus in eastern Afghanistan had dramatically increased last year following a major virus outbreak in the Bajaur and Mohmand agencies of Pakistan.
"Genetic analysis of virus found in Afghanistan had links to Pakistan," said Dr Zaman, adding, "We do interventions on the both sides of the border because the viruses are related."
Besides national and sub-national campaigns launched on a regular basis, some permanent immunization posts have been established along the porous Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
On Sunday, Catherine Mbengue of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Dr Tahir Mir of WHO and Dr Mashal Taufic of the Afghan Ministry of Public Health jointly inaugurated a newly rehabilitated polio immunization post at the Torkham border point which witnesses the cross-border movement of about 12,000 cheap flights from Melbourne (All Airports) to Port Macquarie people everyday.
